Be Prepared for an Accident

Keep a safety kit in your vehicle
Keep important information in your glove box (ID cards, proof of insurance, vehicle registration, health insurance card, emergency contacts)
Keep your cell phone charged

What to Do in an Accident

Move your vehicle to a safe location, without leaving the scene
Check for injuries to anyone involved and dial 911 for assistance
Contact the police to report the accident
Notify your insurance company of the accident as soon as possible
Request towing service if your vehicle is not driveable
Exchange important information with all involved parties (names, phone numbers, addresses and email addresses of all drivers, passengers, and witnesses)
DO NOT ADMIT FAULT
Take photos of the accident scene and all vehicles involved
Exchange company name, policy number, and phone number for other insurance companies
DO NOT REVEAL YOUR INSURANCE POLICY LIMITS
If the police respond to the accident, get the police report number, phone number, officer name, and badge number
